ProBio - Accelerating the introduction of R&D bioeconomy results into the market

ProBio - Accelerating the introduction of R&D bioeconomy results into the market

397 projects funded under the Knowledge Base Bio-Economy (KBBE) EU FP7 Programme will be analysed so that their most promising and advanced results can be swiftly brought into the market. The ProBIO partnership will provide the results owners with specific coaching and tools that will help to speed up the introduction of their results into the market.

ProBIO is designed to improve access to European Union research results for industry, research, policy-makers and by extension the civil society. This project aims to facilitate the uptake of research results by the relevant stakeholders contributing to accelerate the introduction of the bioeconomy research results into the market and the knowledge-based policy making process” said Daniele Colombo, ProBIO coordinator, during the project kick off meeting held in Brussels the 11 March 2015.

With the participation of a multidisciplinary team from 8 institutions from 7 European countries, the partnership will develop and implement different tools to identify and classify the research results coming out of the more than 390 KBBE (Knowledge Based Bio-Economy) projects supported by the Seventh Framework Programme. This activity will allow to pinpoint the results that are ready to market, from the ones that need further development. Using a range of innovative methodologies, the project experts will help transferring each result to the relevant sector: market, policy or research, depending on the degree of maturity of the result and its typology.

The experts participating in this project will ensure that the most appropriate and cost-effective channels are used to promote the knowledge sharing and exchange among all the stakeholders involved in the bioeconomy value chain. This will ensure the most suitable exploitation of the KBBE research results.

The ProBIO project has received funding from the European Union H2020 Programme under grant agreement n° 652683.
