ProBIO presents its “ProBIO Business Stories” – the new online tool to make business plan accessible to all.

ProBIO presents its “ProBIO Business Stories” – the new online tool to make business plan accessible to all.

ProBIO launches its ProBIO Business Stories: a user friendly online guide on the basics of business plan writing, specifically targeted to the community of EU projects participants.

Unlike existing resources, the ProBIO guide has been developed bearing in mind the needs of the participants to KBBE projects who consider taking their project results to the market.  Many researchers or SMEs see a market potential in their research outcomes. However, they do not have the background necessary to write a business plan, or simply do not know how to launch a new product on the market.

The “ProBIO Business Stories” contribute to filling in this knowledge gap. It has been developed within the framework of the ProBIO project, which supports KBBE projects in the market uptake of research results. The ProBIO team comprises EU level experts with an extensive know-how in new business development and access to financing.

Elena Gaboardi, Managing Director of iCons, is a member of the ProBIO team in charge of the project’s communication. She states: “When it comes to business plan writing, many participants in KBBE projects feel daunted: all we want is to reassure them and give them hints to help them overcome this barrier”.

The ProBIO guide to business plan writing is a user friendly tool on the basics of business plan with all the “must have” and all the fundamental aspects to bear in mind when approaching investors. It is based on a “story telling” format and guides readers through the subject in a simple and entertaining way. Contents are articulated upon a combination of video-interviews, journalistic articles, texts and animations. Three short videos on business plan writing, attracting investors and intellectual property rights management are at the core of the “ProBIO Business Stories”, as they address the topics most KBBE projects need assistance with. In Elena’s view: ”The ProBIO online guide is not meant to be exhaustive: it is instead a starting point to encourage people to know more… and hopefully feel less daunted when dealing with business planning”.

ProBIO has received funding from the European Union Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement n° 652683. The project started in March 2015 and is set to run for two and a half years.
